Summer Foot Care Tips You Need to Know
Summer is almost here, and people are getting outside to enjoy all the sun has to offer. However, all this activity can put quite a bit of stress on your feet. That’s why it’s important to check out these simple summer foot care tips to keep your feet in great health.
Your feet can take a bit of a beating during the harsh summer months, but these tips can help prevent damage and future issues from arising:
- Avoid going barefoot. You should always wear shoes while out and about. Your feet can pick up all sorts of germs or fungal infections, not to mention they could burn on the hot ground in the peak of summer. The bare ground can also cause greater discomfort if you have a bunion or wart. There is treatment if you do pick up a fungal infection, such as laser therapy
- Exfoliate! You can use a pumice stone or foot file to scrub any rough patches of skin on the soles of your feet. The hot summer sun can beat down on your feet and if they’re exposed, they may be susceptible to hardening of the skin. Try to concentrate on your heels, sides, and the underside of your big toe.
- Moisturize! After you exfoliate, you can hop in the shower and wash your feet. When you come out, use lotion on your feet and your soles to help your skin absorb more moisture and seal it in. This will protect your feet from becoming rough or cracked again. You can do this daily.
- Apply sunscreen! When you put your sunscreen on, it’s easy to forget your feet, but don’t! They need just as much sun protection as the rest of your body and are just as susceptible to sunburn and damage due to harsh UV rays.
