22 Nov This Thanksgiving Say Thank You to Your Feet!
Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Soon we’ll be sitting around the turkey with family and contemplating all the things we have to be thankful for. One thing that often goes unnoticed, however, is our feet! Yes, our feet do a lot of hard work. Whether playing sports, hiking, going for a walk, or just strolling through town, we have to thank our feet for allowing us these things. So, this Thanksgiving, let’s take a moment and explore some great ways you can say thank you to your feet for being there when you need them.
First, the best thing you can do for your feet is to visit an experienced podiatrist. Your doctor can then give your feet a thorough examination and ensure they get the help they need to stay as healthy as possible. Follow these other tips so your feet can have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving this year:
- Examine your feet daily. It’s important to keep an eye out for anything like a cut, scrape, bruise or blister. Check for any signs of nail fungus or ingrown toenails as well.
- Be sure to cleanse your feet with warm soapy water and dry them thoroughly. Don’t forget the area between your toes.
- Apply moisturizing lotion every day to keep your skin hydrated.
- Trim toenails regularly. Be sure to cut them straight across to avoid ingrown toenails.
- Always try to wear cushioned, comfortable shoes with sufficient arch support.
- Be aware of any persistent ankle or foot pain. Pain is always a signal that something isn’t right and should be taken seriously. Make an appointment with a podiatrist right away if you experience any pain at all.
